Innovative alfalfa growers turn to drip irrigation

With increasingly unstable water supplies, growers of major field crops like alfalfa are experimenting with various ways to save water, including drip irrigation. Those trying to match improved irrigation technology with crop needs say there's still much to learn about growing hay crops on drip and how to justify system costs, but they also see promise in reduced water use and increased yields.
