Legislature, governor agree on fire-prevention spending

Legislative leaders and Gov. Gavin Newsom announced an agreement to spend $536 million to speed fire-prevention projects, as an oncoming drought raises the specter of an early and tough wildfire season on top of a catastrophic 2020 that saw nearly 4 million acres burned.
