Farm Bureau photo contest entry deadline is on Sept. 22

California Farm Bureau members still have time to showcase their photography skills and celebrate the bounty of agriculture in the Golden State as the organization’s 43rd annual photo contest nears its Sept. 22 submission deadline.

Members may submit up to five high-resolution digital images capturing the essence of farm and ranch life in California.

In addition to the main contest, the competition this year will feature a new “People’s Choice” category. It allows members to submit one additional photo to be featured in an online gallery. From Sept. 24-30, the public will vote to select the winner.

Prizes include 12 awards ranging from $50 to a top prize of $1,000.

Last year, Cayden Pricolo, a college student from Los Banos majoring in plant and soil sciences, won the top prize for an action shot of the hand harvest of watermelons at a farm in her hometown.

The contest is open exclusively to amateur photographers who are members of county Farm Bureaus in California.

Young photographers aged 13 or younger as of Sept. 22, 2024, who are children or dependents of Farm Bureau members are also encouraged to enter the Budding Artists category.

Presented by the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, the Budding Artist category offers a first-place prize of $250 and a second-place prize of $100. All entrants will receive a copy of the “Imagine this…” book featuring agricultural stories authored and illustrated by students.
