Research looks at vegetable varieties with longer shelf life

To help farmers and packers respond to the increased demand for fresh-cut produce, U.S. Department of Agriculture researchers have been looking for vegetable varieties with traits that confer longer shelf life. Scientists from the USDA Agricultural Research Service have reported progress in work on lettuce and peppers.
