Several new lines of lettuce are introduced by USDA

U.S. Department of Agriculture scientists in California have developed 16 new lettuce breeding lines. Lettuce production in the United States is concentrated mostly in California and Arizona, where it is grown year-round. Salinas, in fact, is often referred to as "the salad bowl of the nation."
