Sign-ups open for effort to protect blackbird nests

Funding for farmers who delay silage harvesting to protect nesting tricolored blackbirds may be available from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The birds need about 35 days to fledge their young, and delayed harvesting provides the birds with necessary time.
