Partners describe project to help tricolored blackbird

In a five-year project, Central Valley dairy farmers will partner with a conservation group and government agencies in an effort to boost populations of the tricolored blackbird. Project partners say a key goal will be to encourage habitat for the birds on lands other than grain fields on dairy farms, which have become the birds' preferred nesting areas.
