Report examines role of insurance for specialty crops

While the availability of federal crop insurance for California crops has grown in the last 24 years, returns to farmers have been considerably lower in the state than nationally, indicating that California growers have had less frequent crop failure and have claims less often, according to a new report from the University of California Agricultural Issues Center and Center for Agricultural & Environmental Policy at Oregon State University.
