Federal judge rules for U.S. in Klamath ‘takings’ case

Klamath Water Project irrigators seeking compensation for the taking of their water rights expressed disappointment after a U.S. Court of Federal Claims judge hearing the case ruled in favor of the United States. The case dates to 2001, when the federal government denied water to the irrigators due to drought and biological-opinion requirements for the endangered Lost River and shortnose sucker fish and threatened coho salmon
