Plastic underlay helps reduce spoilage in silage pile

Traditionally, California dairy producers used five-mil black/white plastic to cover their corn silage. Problems with spoilage resulted in economic loss, so many producers started using a plastic underlay about three years ago to help reduce spoilage.
