Subsurface drip shows promise for Imperial alfalfa

Alfalfa is grown on approximately 1 million acres in California, making it the biggest crop in terms of acreage, and it is also the most widely planted crop in the Imperial Valley, with 138,000 acres under cultivation, accounting for 10 percent of the state's output.
