Proposed rules would open workplace data to public

The U.S. Department of Labor has proposed rules that would make accessible to the public employers' injury and illness information that is currently not publicly available. The purpose, the DOL Occupational Safety and Health Administration said, is to "improve workplace safety and health through the collection of useful, accessible, establishment-specific injury and illness data to which OSHA currently does not have direct, timely and systematic access."
