Overhead irrigation makes headway at Grimmway Farms

In most carrot fields in California, growers move sprinkler pipes back and forth from one field to the next. But some growers, including Grimmway Farms in Bakersfield, are trying the Midwestern style of using overhead circular and linear pivots. They say the advantages of overhead irrigation are that there are no more pipes to move, no leaky pipes to be fixed, and a savings on labor.
