New EPA rule would speed approval for biotech plants

In an effort to streamline regulations of certain pesticides derived through biotechnology, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed a new rule it says would speed development of new, genetically engineered plant varieties that could help farmers fight pest and disease pressure, potentially in more crops.
