Report estimates drought losses of $1.5 billion in 2016

Lingering drought and water shortages will cost California farmers, ranchers and agricultural businesses up to $1.5 billion in losses this year, according to a new report from CoBank. The report says the near-average rainfall and snowpack that accumulated during the past winter will not prevent another round of water restrictions for farmers.
