Vote eases risk for farmers who help blackbirds

A vote by the California Fish and Game Commission will provide protection to farmers who act to protect populations of tricolored blackbirds. The commission adopted a proposed regulation last week to allow incidental take of blackbirds on farms that agree to delay grain harvest to protect nesting colonies.
