Farmers look at new way to recycle orchard wood

Another option in orchard removal churned its way through more than a dozen mature almond trees in front of a large crowd in Chowchilla. A 50-ton machine called the "Iron Wolf," designed and built as a rock crusher, showed onlookers it has the capability to push and grind whole trees and incorporate the wood into the soil—an operation that normally uses several different pieces of machinery.
