Deadline extension averts potential railroad slowdown

A potential slowing of shipments of agricultural commodities in California and around the nation has been avoided, thanks to the passage of federal legislation that would give U.S. railroads a three-year extension to implement new safety technology known as positive train control. The bill was signed by the president late last week.
