New initiative aims to benefit greater sage grouse

A four-year strategy will invest approximately $211 million through 2018 in conservation efforts to benefit the greater sage grouse. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the new plan, known as Sage Grouse Initiative 2.0, will provide additional assistance through U.S. Department of Agriculture programs to ranchers to make conservation improvements to their land.
