Software developers, farmers meet for ‘hackathon’

California has some of the best farmers and computer minds in the world. To make the most of this unique combination of talent, West Hills College Coalinga hosted the nation’s first "Apps for Ag Hackathon," where teams of software developers, farmers and agricultural students collaborated to create computer software programs for pest management, food safety and irrigation.
