Utilities adjust electricity rates for farm customers

As California farmers and ranchers ramp up their farming activity during the transition from winter to spring, they watch every penny carefully, especially when it comes to energy use. Already this year, producers and other utility customers may have noticed changes on energy bills that reflect rate adjustments from the previous year, according to Karen Norene Mills, associate counsel and Public Utilities Department director for the California Farm Bureau Federation.
