Young farmers spearhead food-donation projects

Members of the Young Farmers and Ranchers program from the Sacramento County Farm Bureau have teamed up with a local food bank to pursue a goal of collecting at least 44,000 pounds of food donations this year—including fresh fruits and vegetables—to help feed hungry local residents. The food donation effort by Sacramento County YF&Rs is one of many by young farmer and rancher groups throughout California that work to combat food insecurity through gleaning events, food drives and business donations.
