Automation shows improvement in attacking weeds

The age of automation in cool season vegetable production has arrived, as commercial growers in the Salinas Valley are using units from four different companies to thin lettuce by using tractor-mounted cameras to treat the ground between plants with a narrow band of herbicide or fertilizer to remove the extras.
