Solano tomato field destroyed after noxious weed detected

Discovery of Egyptian broomrape in a Solano County tomato field has triggered destruction of the crop and formation of a command team to control movement of seeds on equipment and workers leaving the field. A highly noxious weed, Egyptian broomrape has never been found before in the United States.
