Genome sequence of bean may help boost production

Results from the genome sequence of the common bean shed light on nitrogen fixation, disease resistance and how beans were domesticated, according to the University of California, Davis. A UC Davis plant scientist was part of a research team that has reported the genome sequence of the common bean, which includes a number of varieties that together rank as the world's 10th most widely grown food crop.
