Rice acreage cuts affect ag aviators, economy

The impacts of the California drought will trickle down and be felt by people such as Jim Miller, owner of Pacific Valley Aviation Inc. of Arbuckle. As rice farmers fallow acreage due to lack of water, Miller, who pilots fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters for agricultural applications, said he expects his business for planting rice fields by air to be cut by as much as half.
