Asparagus growers reduce acreage to stay competitive

Harvesting asparagus has been a rite of spring in California since 1852, when the state's first crop was planted in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta growing region. But some asparagus growers question whether this signature vegetable crop will continue to be grown here.
