Farmers, elected officials discuss state’s water needs

California's severe drought prompted continued actions and discussions among farmers and elected officials last week, aimed at finding solutions to both immediate and long-term water needs. California Farm Bureau Federation water leaders met in Sacramento to review state water bond proposals, while the House Natural Resources Committee held a field hearing in Fresno on the state's water crisis and bipartisan federal legislation was introduced to authorize construction of Sites Reservoir west of Maxwell.
