Two new forms of deadly lettuce disease discovered

The sobering news about verticillium wilt, the deadliest soil-borne disease in Central Coast lettuce fields, is that there are at least two new species of the pathogen that can infect the crop, which could make it even more challenging to control with resistant varieties.
