Wildfire adds unexpected opportunity for forest study

A wildfire last summer in Tahoe National Forest burned through a seven-year study site designed to evaluate fuel-reduction projects on forest health. Although some scientific equipment was lost in the blaze, researchers say they were able to save other equipment and much valuable data.
