Verticillium wilt creates major challenge in coastal valleys

There is still a full-court press to develop resistant varieties and other management tools for verticillium wilt, which has infested thousands of acres in the Salinas and Pajaro valleys and continues to be the greatest lettuce disease challenge of a generation.
