Cuts in delta water pumping ordered to aid delta smelt

Water transfers from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta have been curtailed to protect endangered delta smelt. Cutbacks in water transfers to state and federal storage facilities south of the delta have been ongoing since Dec. 7, and wildlife officials said they will meet this week to determine further protective action.
