Court ruling bolsters state’s water rights priority system

Senior water rights holders in the Sacramento Valley who contract with the federal Central Valley Project had their rights affirmed last week. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco upheld a lower court decision that renewal contracts signed in 2005 are legal and binding.
