When Glenn Aldridge's great-grandparents William and Mary Aldridge moved to Shingletown in 1862, they purchased 160 acres of land for $1,400. A year later, the property in the hills below Mount Lassen was assessed for having four horses, a cow, 20 hogs and one wagon. Ownership of the property, known today as Bonnie Craigs Ranch, passed down through the family and now contains 5,400 acres of contiguous land in Shasta County.
