Hail-shortened tree fruit crop sees strong early demand

Things may be looking up for California peach, plum and nectarine growers. While the business has experienced a number of setbacks—including the 2009 closure of about a dozen grower-packer-shippers, only a marginal year last year, and destructive hailstorms in April—some growers say they may finally be seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
