Letters to the editor: Commentary was ‘right on’

Issue Date: April 6, 2011

Editor: I commend Robert Montion's excellent article in the March 2 Ag Alert® ("Decision-makers must recognize value of farm economy"), addressing President Obama's desire "to re-invent the American economy on the strength of innovation, entrepreneurship and high technology, comparable to the space race with Russia." His critique that followed was to the point and right on.

I grew up in this state on a ranch and farm and frequently spoke criticizing the distance that had grown up between the urban population and the people who produced food and fiber. My reminder to anyone who would listen was, "Remember that three times a day, you sit down to eat courtesy of the farmer." Mr. Montion's article needs to appear in every American newspaper.
