IR-4 program tests materials for specialty crops

This year, researchers are taking a close look at the effectiveness of a new fungicide on avocados, another aphid material for tomatoes and an herbicide for pear trees: These are among the dozens of research projects financed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture under the IR-4 program, to register materials for the relatively small-acreage crops that are so important in California.
